IT Support Technician - 1st Line

Location: Truro

We are seeking a customer focused and motivated IT Support Technician – 1st Line to join our expanding IT team in Truro. The primary responsibility of this role is to provide a first class level of customer service by providing frontline technical support to end users, resolving IT-related issues and inquiries in a timely and professional manner.

The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, a strong customer service orientation, and a passion for troubleshooting technical problems.

Key Responsibilities
• Provide first-line technical support to end users via phone, email, and in-person.
• Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, and network issues, escalating more complex problems to higher-level support teams when necessary.
• Install, configure, and maintain desktops, laptops, printers, and other IT equipment.
• Assist with user account management, including password resets, account creation, and access permissions.
• Perform software installations, updates, and patches as required.
• Respond to and resolve IT service requests within established SLA targets.
• Document and maintain accurate records of support incidents, resolutions, and procedures.
• Provide user training and guidance on IT systems, applications, and best practices.

Qualifications and Skills:
• Ideally 12 months IT support experience or similar.
• Proven experience in a similar role providing technical support to end users.
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Windows operating systems (Windows 7/10) and Office 365 applications.
• Familiarity with basic networking concepts and protocols.
• Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
• Possess a valid and full driving licence
• Ability to communicate technical information effectively to non-technical users.
• A proactive attitude with a willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies.
• IT certifications such as CompTIA A+ or Microsoft Certified Desktop Support Technician (MCDST) are desirable but not essential as these courses ( and others) will be completed within your role.
